Meet Poh Yi Xin from our Risk Management team. With experience in risk roles across different industries, she was looking for a role that offered an interesting experience and Jurong Port offered just that. Despite having no maritime background, she saw it as a unique opportunity to grow and learn in a space unlike any she had worked in before.
The learning curve was steep. Everything from terminology to operations was new. One thing that helped ease the transition was going through JP’s Foundation Programme, an initiative designed to help new joiners accelerate learning and build strong connections across departments. It gave her a solid understanding of how JP operates. Later on, she also joined a guided tour of our Ready-Mixed Concrete (RMC) Ecosystem to learn more about its functions. With the support of her team, Yi Xin found her footing and gained a deeper appreciation of how things work on the ground.
Today, she works closely with business units to manage the risks they face in their work, helping ensure JP stays within its risk appetite. She didn’t stop there. Yi Xin also joined the Staff Welfare Council, where she’s curating events to bring colleagues together, with one planned for later this year.
What drives her? The friendly, collaborative culture and the constant opportunities to learn and grow. Even outside of work, Yi Xin’s passion for learning continues as she’s currently picking up Korean, Japanese and Hokkien!
